Actvities to do!

If there is school closures due to severe weather, below are various activities you can do at home to support your child's learning.

Read...read...read...read. Enjoy reading books, listen to an audio story or have a story read to you. Remember that you can download online books from the Jersey Library on their web page (https://www.gov.je/Leisure/Libraries/Pages/Lending.aspx#anchor-3)

Follow a recipe to cook something. This is a great way to read and practise maths skills too (weighing out all the ingredients, temperature of the oven and how long to cook for). After tasting the delicious creation, write a review of what it was like!

If it is snowing, make a snowman or snow angels (if it is safe to go outside). Work together as a team to make the most creative snowman you can. Take a photo to bring into school to show everyone.

Create a video about the weather. Use photos or videos you have taken (as long as it is safe enough to go outside to take the photos). You could even make up your own weather or news report.

Most year groups have homework sheets - do something from the homework sheet or work on your project.

If you want to take part in Jersey Sings, you can practise the songs which are now on our website.

Play board or card games together, as these really help children's maths skills. A good game on monopoly or uno is fantastic on days with severe weather.
